Halloween is just around the corner and my kids are getting excited! Carving pumpkins is a classic Halloween activity, But, with kids, carving pumpkins with sharp knives can be stressful for parents and not so much fun for little ones. I'm always trying to come up with clever ways to have my kids be involved in pumpkin decorating. No-carve pumpkins are great for my family while my kids are little.
This year we made no-carve pumpkins using paper brads and they turned out adorable!
Easy No-Carve Pumpkins
Metal brads (pushpins might work too)
Push the brads into the pumpkin to create different designs or patterns. You can draw you design out first if you want to create something more complicated.
We made 2 different kinds of no-carve pumpkins with our metal brads. First we made a colorful confetti pumpkin with our fun colorful brads. It kind of reminds me of a doughnut!
For the smaller pumpkin I used the pencil to draw BOO onto the pumpkin and then used the brads to create the word. Tip: space out the letters a little more than usual. Pushpins might work for this project too. I was thinking of that half way through creating the pumpkins.
Kids will love making their own designs with the brads. I could see making a cute rainbow on a pumpkin! I used real pumpkins for this craft but I bet you could do this easy no-carve pumpkin craft using fake pumpkins too depending on what they are made of.
Happy Halloween and happy crafting!
