Make Your Own (Non) Toxic Slime!

Slime

I will be the first to admit that I’m not the best at the whole craft thing with my kids. Pinterest frightens me. I’m a pretty terrible artist. I can’t sew. But this craft… this craft is made for me.

Not only is it super easy, my kids were entertained by the slime for hours. Hurray for Halloween sensory play!

So for all those parents out there who would really love to be good at crafts, but really need something simple – I present you with the following recipe.

How to Make Slime

You will need:
2 bowls of warm water
1/2 tsp Borax
1/2 cup Elmer’s Glue (Elmer’s Glue-All tends to work best)

Optional:
Sparkles
Food colouring

Mix 1 cup of warm water and borax together in one bowl.

Mix 1/2 cup of glue and 1/2 cup water together in another bowl and stir.

If using them, add in sparkles and food colouring. Mix well.

Pour glue mixture into borax mixture. Mix well until slimy. Drain out additional water and let sit for about 1 minute. You now have the perfect slime! Keep in a container or ziplock bag when not in use.

Now, sit back and enjoy a hot cup of coffee whilst feeling like Crafty Mom Of The Year.

  1. I made this on the weekend and my 3-year old went NUTS! She loves it so much! We got a good 2-3 HOURS of play out of this last night and I’m sure it will be the first thing she asks to play with when she gets home from daycare.

Thanks for the recipe, I’m sure we will be making more colours very soon!

  2. Awesome!! My 5 and 3-year-old daughters love, love, loved it too! They seriously could play with it over and over and we were able to save it in a little container so they could play with it lots of times. Glad you loved it!

  3. i am using this for my science fair project it is so fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
